Club Secretary Joe Kasper KD9DFB passed away November 29th, 2020 as the result of an ATV accident in Polk County. Joe was one of BCARA’s original members and much of the set up and planning for Field Day was taken care of by Joe. If you attended Field Day Joe was always there operating digital modes such as PSK31. Joe was one of the members who helped purchase the System Fusion Repeater that is currently on the air at Dallas

Joe was always willing to help out others without expecting anything in return and hearing his friendly voice will be missed. Joe’s obituary from Skinner Funeral Home is below.

Joe Kaper

Joseph M. Kasper, 43, of Turtle Lake passed unexpectedly Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Cumberland Healthcare. He was born September 2, 1977, in Turtle Lake, to James and Joyce (Tornio) Kasper. He wrestled in elementary and junior high and was an active member of 4-H for several years. Joe worked the PM shift cooking at Pank’s Restaurant in Turtle Lake for a year and a half while in high school before his graduation from Turtle Lake High School in May of 1997.

After graduation, he worked several jobs including Jennie O’s and Ntech in Barron. Joe then attended the Diesel Trucking Driving School in Sun Prairie, WI graduating with flying colors and WITC in Rice Lake for 1 year in the Auto Mechanics program. Joe’s final job, which he greatly loved, was at Cemstone in Turtle Lake.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, ATV, and snowmobile. He was Vice President of the Cumberland Snowmobile Club and performed trail grooming and cleaning as needed. He loved working on cars and motors, such as snowmobiles and ATVs. He was an excellent handyman.

Joe was greatly loved by his family, friends, and co-workers. He was always willing to help anyone, just ask. For a young man, Joe certainly lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his parents: James and Joyce Kasper; sister, Alicia (Kasper) Huffman; brother-in-law, Jeff Huffman; nephew, Celtion Huffman, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his infant brother, his grandparents: Michael and Marie Kasper, and Raymond and Antonionette Tornio; and uncle, John Kasper.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 4, 2020, at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father Tom Thompson officiating; masks are required in the church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brett and Darin Moravitz, Stephen and Kyle Tornio, Joe and John Humphrey.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Skinner Funeral Home – Turtle Lake; where masks are preferred by the family.
